Friday Swim

I got a bit of a surprise when I got to the pool this morning. I’d arrived about 5 minutes earlier than usual, so I wasn’t surprised when the parking lot was empty. When I got to the front doors of Douglas Snow and saw all the signs that read “Pool closed until June 22” and the doors were locked, I figured I’d misread Adams note and had gone to the wrong pool. A quick call to Simon straightened that out though. I walked around to the other side of the building and saw the custodian opening the doors I’d just walked away from! Today’s swim started at 6:00, not 5:45.

My schedule called for a nice easy 1 hour swim today. We had a choice on the board if a 3800 meter swim, or a regular workout. I went for the 3800, or whatever I could get done in an hour.

It was actually a pretty nice swim. I knew I wouldn’t get the distance all in within the one hour, so I put on a pull-buoy and just swam back and forth for an hour. Nice, easy, peaceful. It was odd getting out of the pool early. I’m pretty much always the last guy out of the water. I love those long easy uninterrupted swims!
