Thursday Bike

I never ceases to amaze me how I can do a long run, limp around for a day or two, then jump on the bike for a good ride and my legs feel great afterwards. I’d done a long run Tuesday (30k) and swam yesterday, and my legs were still stiff with burning quads when I climbed the stairs last night. They were stiff this morning. I was dreading the 90 minute Computrainer workout this morning.

Today started with 15 minutes nice and easy, then 15 minutes low zone 2 then 6 x 1.5 @ zone 5, 1.5 @ zone 1, 2 minutes low zone 2 and 5 minutes high zone 2. Those minute and a half zone 5’s got to be a killer. If I kept my cadence up around 90 – 95, other than my heart rate, it wasn’t too bad. Any time I let it slip into the 80’s it dropped like a stone from there and it was almost impossible to keep peddling. I made got through 4 of the 6 with high cadence.

I tried to drink more water than I usually do too. I think I’ll be able to get up to 750ml per hour on the bike, running is going to be another story though I think.
