Tuesday Brick
Today was a 90 minute bike, progressively higher wattages followed by a quick cool down and a couple of minutes zone 2, and then a 5k run.
The bike was touch. Holding a 90 cadence at zone 5, even for a minute was almost impossible the first time, by the sixth time, I just barreled through it. I found keeping cadence up above 95 made it a bit easier, but a thoughtless moment dropped it to 85 or less which was a killer to keep going at.
My buddy Willem suggested the other day that I roll my hips forward a bit on the bike to straighten out my back a bit. I was thinking of that today and tried it. Peddling did seem easier, but it took a lot of concentration to keep doing it. I wonder if I have time over the next few weeks to get into the habit before Ironman?
I thought the run was going to be slow. I only checked the time at a couple of spots and was pleasantly surprised that I finished the 5k this morning in 26:30. I was tired, but not totally bushed.
