Sunday 29k Run
I must admit, I'm really happy that I'm finished with that one. 29k hurts!
Nadia, Frank and I headed out about 7:15 towards Bathurst, north to St John's Sideroad, west to Bayview and back to the club. That amounted to about 18k. Frank had company at home and Nadia wasn't feeling well even before we started, so they both went back to the club and I finished off by myself. I was happy to give Frank my vest to drop off at my locker. It was getting pretty warm.
I headed back out to Yonge and turned onto Coon's Road, south of Bloomingotn and around to the end of Beaumant Hills road and then back to the club.
It's great that the weather is getting better and the sun is up. I saw Paul Popovitch heading north when I was going south. I got back to the club, but I was short by 1k. I ran from driveway to driveway, back and forth until I had the full 29 k done.
I ran into Pat Harrison, who is heading off to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, as I was going into the club to cool down and stretch a bit.
I'd been enjoying running down some of the hills and I guess I didn't realize that my toes were banging the front of my shoes. I've got a big blood stain on my left shoe from one of my toenails. I was wearing double knit socks. No wonder I was tired. I must have been down a pint of blood!
I ended up doing the 29k in 3:06. Here's hoping I can push that to 30k in 2:55 or so in a couple of weeks at Around the Bay.
I think I'll sleep well tonight.
